  ManiyanPilla Raju dons the role of a transgender in Ardhanari. Malayalam cinema which has seen ardhanari's of the comic type will get to see a serious portrayal in this movie by debut director Santhosh Paurnami. In an interview with Metromatinee, Maniyanpilla Raju revealed that the role was challenging. The appearance and the character is unlike anything the actor has done so far. As part of his make-up, his entire body hair was shaved off. The re-recording of Ardhanari is currently in progress. The actor said that the film is receiving rave reviews from those who saw it. Thilakan and Manoj K. Jayan play prominent roles in the movie.
