Until he scored that spectacular 75 in 63 balls to lead Kerala Strikers to a comprehensive victory over Mumbai Heroes, Rajeev Govinda Pillai was an unknown entity to most Malayalees.
But after his match winning performance, the stadium witnessed Rajeev Pillai becoming the hero of Malayalee film fans as well as the Mollywood stars and he was escorted all the way back to the pavilion by the captain Mohanlal and mega star Mammootty.
His pyrotechnics have opened up a path for his entry in to the tinsel world with the Strikers owner Priyadarshan, who has umpteen number of hits to his credit, offering him the villain’s role in his new Hindi movie “Malamal Weekly-2”. Besides the acting offer, Rajeev Pillai was also presented an amount of rupees five lakhs by the team’s main sponsor Ravi Pillai, who is an NRI businessman.
Pillai led Strikers to a ten-wicket win over Mumbai Heroes and in the process also scored the highest individual score in CCL.
Rajeev Pillai started his career as a model and has appeared in “City of God”, “Bombay March 16” , “Teja Bhai & Family” and “Veendum Kannoor”.
