Anushka was born in Mangalore, and her mother tongue is Kannada/Tulu, she is also very fluent in Telugu. She did her schooling and college in Bangalore. She was also a Yoga Instructor and has trained under yoga guru Bharat Thakur. Her debut in Telugu was with Nagarjuna's Super, and her debut film in Tamil was Rendu with R. Madhavan. She has been more successful in the Telugu Film Industry.
Shetty made her debut in the telugu film “Super”, directed by Puri jagannath in 2005. In the same year, she acted in another film "Mahanandi".In 2006 Shetty made a guest appearance in the film Stalin. Shetty portrayed the character Neeraja Goswami opposite Ravi Teja in Vikramarkudu.
