Kamaluddin Mohammed, better known as Kamal, is a Malayalam director. He was born on November 28, 1957 in Mathilakam, Kodungallur. His first film was Mizhineer Pookkal in 1986 and to date, he has directed more than 32 movies. He has also directed in Tamil and Hindi. Apart from his role as a director, Kamal was recently elected as the general secretary of MACTA (Malayalam Cine Technicians Association). He is also the executive member of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy.
He is ranked as one of the top directors of Malayalam Cinema today. His films are popular for its music as well as the diversity in their theme.
