Krishnan Balakrishnan,is a professional actor from Trivandrum, Kerala, who has been actively present in the world of theatre and cinema for over two decades. He has worked with renowned theatre personalities like Padmabhushan Kavalam Narayana Panikker and Soorya Krishnamoorthi, national award-winning film directors like Adoor Gopalakrishnan ,Shaji N Karun, Lenin Rajendran and Santosh Sivan. Krishnan was trained at the Sopanam Theatre Group under the guidance of the legendary theatre artist Padmabhushan Kavalam Narayana Panikker. He has worked with many theatre groups and workshops. In addition to Malayalam plays, Krishnan has worked in a few Sanskrit plays. His entry into films came in 2005 with the movie called ‘Oraal’ (Someone), directed by Kukku Surendran. Krishnan appeared as a wrongly-accused victim in Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s award winning film anthology ‘Oru Pennum Randu Aanum’. He was also part of Shaji N Karun’s ‘Kutty Shrank’. He has performed in the film Urumi, directed by Shri.Santosh Sivan, was also the assistant director of this project.Krishnan has also participated in many national, international theatre and film festivals.He has visited more than twenty foreign countries for theatre performances and participating in theatre workshops.
