Prakash Bare’s romance with movies started when he was five years old and used to watch every film in the projection room of his family owned Dhanraj theatre in Chirakal, a suburb of Kannur in Kerala. Like the hero of Giuseppe Tornatore cult classic Cinema Paradiso, Prakash got hooked to cinema. After graduating from IIT Kanpur, Bare left for the Silicon Valley in US and spent the next 14 years in California. Finally the romance of movies have brought him back to Kerala to produce and act as the hero of Priyanandan’s Sufi Paranja Katha. A chat with the man, who wants to bring back good cinema to Malayalam.
