Vinayan is an Indian film director, mainly of Malayalam movies. He started his career with the film Super Star, in which he used a Mohanlal look-alike in the lead role.
Vinayan is noted for the films Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum pinne Njanum, Karumadikkuttan, Oomappenninu Uriyadaapayyan, Dada Saheb, Vellinakshthram, Akasaganga and Sipayi Lahala. He has directed both comedy and serious films. Vinayan has also directed fantasy films for children. Albhuthadweep, which tells the story of an island where all the men are short and women normal, and Athisayan, which deals with the story of an extraordinary child, fall in this category.
Vinayan has also remade a few of his films into Tamil. He is also a script writer and lyricist.
